The reason why I was interested in this topic is because we live in a world where we are increasingly online. Especially now with this pandemic, where we have to work online. I was really curious how we could present something in a different way. That also non-digital work comes into its own online. I started looking for a way to present my graphic novels online. I researched online 3D software where I could build the graphic novels. Also ways of presenting books. I found video’s and different ways of taking photographs. After that I started more researching by making. With this online software I was able to make an online 3D copy of a book based on a pdf. It wasn’t possible to create an other way of folding that is in the graphic novel. So I tried to make it interactive by using photographs and arrows. By clicking on the arrows you could see step by step the graphic novel. But it didn't give the feeling and the meaning of the graphic novels.
After the meeting I went to look at the shapes and textures in my graphic novels. I wanted to show and convey these textures in the online presentation. I thought about this for a long time, how I wanted to do that. But, I lost the overview a bit, because there are 6 booklets with many different textures. I collected a few short videos from the internet that show the textures. I was not really enthusiastic about using this, because it is not in the style of the booklets themselves. It was not a really good combination. A week later I started working with various paintings that I made based on nature on Vlieland. This is a smaller project and I found it a bit easier to work on. In the weeks that followed, I combined the painted cards with the video experience, where it was based on, into a film. The combination of presenting physical work online can give a whole other dimension to your work.
